New 4X Module Provides Walk-away Automation for Sequential Purifications

 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Lincoln, NE – Teledyne Isco announces the introduction of the CombiFlash® Rf 4X multichannel organic compound purification system module. The new 4X module, used together with Isco's popular CombiFlash Rf purification system, offers walk-away automation, allowing chemists to automatically perform up to four sequential purifications.

The add-on 4X module easily converts the CombiFlash Rf system into a multi-user environment, where different users can perform sequential runs utilizing the same equipment. Each user can prepare and start a series of unattended purifications, and then move on to other important duties. New purification runs can be set up without waiting for previous runs to be completed.

The CombiFlash Rf 4X system can purify sample sizes ranging from 5 mg to 33 g x 4, without requiring time-consuming hardware changes. A large 10.4-inch touch screen is available for easy programming, or all functions can be monitored and controlled from remote network computers running Internet Explorer.

Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology enables method automation, thereby reducing setup time and the potential for user errors. When an RFID-tagged column is inserted, the CombiFlash Rf system detects the column type and size. The system then automatically loads an optimized method, flow rate, and pressure limit. Users can modify default settings - even while a separation is in progress.

RFID also allows identification of fraction collector tube racks in order to set fraction sizes, and avoid overflows. Re-load an RFID column or rack and the system can resume the run from where it left off, or recall the most recent chromatogram.

The CombiFlash Rf flash chromatography system works best with Isco's RFID-enabled RediSep® Rf columns. These columns store useful data such as last run date, last solvents used, and total number of runs on the RFID tag. RediSep Rf columns are available in a variety of media including silica gel, C18, amine, cyano, diol, and alumina. These columns can be used with other MPLC and flash systems.

The compact, space-saving footprint of the CombiFlash Rf flash chromatography system and accompanying 4X add-on module preserve valuable lab bench and fume hood space.
